“Improv Big Band” is an ensemble that unites multiple disciplines. An orchestra that is not restricted to music, alone, and is also enabled to soundscape, to talk, to perform theatrical scenes, dances, poems, songs, and more. A true scenic coral piece directed and conducted by outstanding Argentinian artist, Omar Galvan.
All of this is achieved seamlessly, even though improvised, through an adaptation of “Soundpainting”; a sign language designed for musical conductors by Walter Thompson. Omar Galvan has reimagined this system for improvised theater, with memorable productions in Mexico, Spain, Vienna, Puerto Rico, Karlsruhe, Reunion Island, Canberra.
You can see them on Saturday night, as they will be the festival headliners.
